Just Planning Ahead...

Last week, pulling into our driveway, I noticed a little plastic box affixed to the front of our house. I had never noticed it before. It gave me such a jolt of excitement, I had to share it with you:

What? You ask. Why is a dirt-splattered box exciting?

Outdoor Christmas lights!

We can now be that family who decorates their house with Christmas lights after Thanksgiving (or at least waits to plug them in until after Thanksgiving). I've been waiting to be that family. You see, I can be a bit of a Christmas freak. I love Christmas. Everything about it. I've been known to "sneak" Christmas movies in July because I just can't wait any longer. In fact, after our first walk through the house--before we even put an offer on it--I had already figured out where we would place our Christmas tree. This comes as second nature to me. Mind you, we were looking at the house in February; the month when every other Hoosier in their right mind is ready for spring, not ready to do it all over again. By the time we drove away, I was dreaming about outdoor decorations. A new frontier for me--we've never been able to or chosen to decorate the outside of our house.

But this is the year. Thank you, little plastic box.

This is how my mind works. It's wired for Christmas. I can't help it.

241 days to go.

241 days to convince Shawn this is the best Christmas idea ever.

  1. Good luck. Start stocking up now! I thought you were gonna say Shawn could work outside and let Eme play in the yard...while you took a That is just how my mind works. :)

  2. Aunt D--that is always a good idea.
