Sylvie's Update 5/24

Sweet girl had to have her morning nap in the van due to some urgent errands. Fate of the second child, as they say. I couldn't resist snapping this pictures--she looked so cute hugging her blankie.

This past Thursday was Sylvie's final check-up before surgery. She is four months old already. Fifteen pounds three-and-a-half ounces and 27 inches long--still off the charts for height. Her oxygen levels are slipping to 92%. On Memorial Day, we'll be exactly one month out from surgery.

I haven't been posting much lately. It's actually been hard to write. I'm weary. There are still lessons to be learned and stories to tell. Hopefully I can snap out of it--whatever 'it' is--and keep on writing.

However, these girls continue to be such a joy. Sylvie absolutely adores Emeline. The other morning in order to 'trick' Emeline into getting dressed I asked her to show Sylvie how to do it. I sat on the floor with Sylvie and Emeline taught her how to put on her clothes. "You head goes in here like this...you put your arm here like so..." Sylvie watched and laughed in bright-eyed wonder while I bounced with silent laughter. And then, in a magnificent grand finale, Emeline twirled and twirled and twirled.

Maybe that's what I need to do. Put on a dress and twirl and twirl and twirl!
